Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall, who made headlines during the offseason after an incident at his home left him with stab wounds in April, held a riveting press conference at the Dolphins’ facility in Davie, Fla., on Sunday.

Marshall talked about a diagnosis he was given of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which was chronicled by Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel on Saturday.

“BPD is a well understood psychological disorder. It’s not a form of misbehavior,” said Mary Zanarini, a professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School, who treated Marshall this summer, according to a trailer for “Borderline Beast Movie,” which was produced to chronicle Marshall’s journey to his diagnosis. The trailer to the documentary was uploaded to YouTube on July 30.

As for Marshall’s press conference Sunday, he talked openly about his disorder and how it has affected him.

“I am making myself vulnerable, and I want to make it clear that this is the opposite of damage control,” Marshall said. “The only reason I am standing here today is to use my story to help others who are suffering from what I am suffering from. I can’t paint a vivid enough picture for you of where I’ve been in my life.”
